Mike Swick

Michael Richard Swick was born February 10, 1950 in Rushville, Nebraska to Jim and Dorla Swick. He moved to Dallas in 1955 and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968. He owned and operated Swick Aircraft in McKinney, Texas for 35 years. He married Karen Holdridge on March 12, 1982. Mike lived a uniquely incredible life in pursuit of his passions - family, friends and airplanes. He was a skilled craftsman and builder of planes. He was in the airplane business with his father as long as he could remember. He had a true passion for flying, and anything to do with the world of planes. He will always be remembered for his impish grin, and his unique sense of humor. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; sisters, Janice Irwin and husband Larry, and Lareen Rains and husband Joe; stepsisters, Sheri Durham, Diane Carroll, Ginger Hamilton and husband, Eldon; sisters-in-law, Claudia Bartlett and husband, Bart and Janet Kaiser and husband, Ronald; brother-in-law, Kennt Holdridge and wife, Pam; nephews, Scott Creekmore and wife Timi, Chris Clark and wife Samantha, John Benson and wife Leslie, Jake Kaiser and wife Angela, Justin Kaiser, Brandon Holdridge, Nathan Carroll, Zachary Byrd, and Trey Bartlett; nieces, Suzanne Glass and husband Jake, Hayley Allred and husband Kevin, Marisa Durham, and Sarah Bartlett; and nine great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jim and Dorla Swick, nephew Steven Clark and niece Jessica Durham Funeral services will be held at noon, on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas, with Rev. Jerry Halbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Creekmore, Chris Clark, Brandon Holdridge, Jake Kaiser, Justin Kaiser and Jake Glass. Honorary pallbearers will be John Benson, Kevin Allred, and Trey Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the building fund of Parkway Baptist Church, 5600 Virginia Parkway, McKinney, TX 75071.
