Mickey Sonja Elvanzel (Frazier) Cash, of Leonard, Texas, passed away with her daughters by her side on September 1, 2023, in Denison, Texas at the age of 84. Pastor Joe and his wife, Kathy, who were her close friends as well as ministers, were also present. As Pastor Joe prayed for Jesus to come and take His loyal servant home, He did just that, and she was with Him before we said Amen.
Mickey was born on December 16, 1938, to John Ben Frazier and Iva Ethel (Bayless) Frazier in Grant, Oklahoma. She graduated from Grant High School in 1956, and married Felton Dewayne Cash on December 23, 1956, in Hugo, Oklahoma. She was a wonderful and supportive wife, right by Felton’s side through his 2 heart surgeries and a heart transplant. She was an incredible mom, daughter, sister, aunt, granny, friend, and everything in between. She stepped in to help whoever needed it without fail.
Mickey was a Christian, a member of the First United Methodist Church her entire life, most recently in Leonard, Texas. She helped with Christmas Pageants, Vacation Bible School, led Sunday school and Bible study classes, was a certified Lay Speaker, and sang in the choir. As a member of The Happy Jubilee Singers, she visited numerous nursing homes, churches and revivals ministering through music with the group. They established a crisis pregnancy center in Bonham, Haven House, purchasing a house and providing funding.
Mickey was a voracious reader, loved working in her flower beds, and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles. She spent hours at her children’s and grandchildren’s events, come rain or shine, to cheer them on.
Mickey will be remembered by her daughters, Rhonda Cash-Huggins and husband, Chuck, of Denton, Texas, and Sarah Cash and husband, David Wolfe, of Savoy, Texas; grandchildren, Kiah, Brooke, Jennifer, Tiffany, Ashley, Hannah, and their spouses; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Whitney Frazier and sister, Norma Sumrall. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many more that were related by love if not by blood, and friends too numerous to count.
She was preceded by her parents, Ben and Ethel Frazier; husband, Felton Cash; 7 sisters and a brother.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Joe Gist will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, September 8, 2023 at the First Methodist Church of Leonard. Following the service, there will be a procession to Hogeye Celeste Cemetery.
