IN LOVING MEMORY

Michael Joe Medford

May 14 1979 - Aug 18 2021

Michael Joe Medford of McKinney, Texas joined the Lord on August 18, 2021 in Portland, Maine at the age of 42. He was born on May 14, 1979 to Danny Joe Medford and Sylvia Virginia (Searcy) Medford in Odessa, Texas. Mike resided in McKinney, Texas and worked at Parkland hospital as an ICU Educator and attended Trinity Presbyterian where he was involved in the Open Hearts Program.

He graduated from Grayson College with a drafting degree and drew patents for inventions for 2 years, but found he wanted to help people on a more personal scale. So Mike started attending Texas Women’s University’s nursing program and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009.

Mike’s hometown was Denison, Texas, he attended Denison High School where sports were a huge part of his life. He lettered in softball, volleyball and basketball giving 110%. Mike was so extraordinary to watch and his athletic abilities where truly God given. He continued playing sports into adulthood and was up for a game anytime-anywhere, count him in. Mike loved being in nature camping, hiking, and above all fishing. He always carried his fish pole and tackle with him. Mike loved to travel and see new places and never met a stranger along the way. His humor was vast like his sock drawer, he was sure to get a chuckle or smile from someone if he wore his white shark biting his foot socks. Mike just wanted people to be happy and to stop our busy lives to play every now and then.

Mike had a loving heart and made life fun, it was all about people and his friends in his life and how many he could service in his lifetime. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved his beautiful soul. To know Mike meant you knew you were loved and supported.

He brought people together and loved them as they were. Mike made believing in yourself and reaching your dreams a reality. Nothing was too big for him to achieve, he wanted everyone he knew to manifest their biggest ideas. Mike would not want us to be sad, but instead to reflect and celebrate on the joys live has to offer and tell a few dad jokes in his honor.

We lost a son, partner, friend, nurse, coworker and educator who truly made a mark in this world that will never be forgotten. He went info life sliding into home base head on and never stopped.

Michael is survived by his fiancé, Joni (Dillenberg) Moore; mother and father, Fred and Gigi Kusch; brother, Donny Medford; grandmother, Dixie Medford; aunts and uncles, Cindy and Mike Day, Paul and Kuralia Searcy, Michael and Melissa Searcy, Jackie and William Bryant, Jane Wilhite, David Medford; granduncles and aunts, Regina and Stan Green, Michael Maham and his 12 cousins. He also leaves behind his wonder cat, Max, his constant companion, and source of many conversations.
