Michael Dwayne Kerr

Michael Dwayne Kerr of Leonard, Texas, passed away June 4, 2022, at the age of 70. He was born on February 4, 1952, to Ewing Preston Kerr and Billie Jean (Barber) Kerr in McKinney, Texas. Michael married the love of his life, Sherry Dawn (Black) Kerr, on April 8, 1976, in North Richland Hills, Texas. Together, they shared 46 years of marriage.

Mike was raised in McKinney, Texas.  He graduated from McKinney High School in 1970 and just recently was able to celebrate his 50th high school reunion.  He attended the University of Texas at Arlington and received his degree in 1976.  He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and the recipient of the National Alumni Distinguished Service Key.  He was retired from the United States Postal Service.

Mike was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leonard, Texas. He was a leader of the Boy Scouts and was in their honor society, The Order of the Arrow. Mike was a jack of all trades. In his free time, he enjoyed farming and tending to his animals. He also enjoyed yard work, photography, and making ceramics.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sherry Kerr of Leonard, Texas; son, Christopher Andrew Kerr and wife, Patricia Dias of Three Springs, Pennsylvania; daughter, Jennifer Dawn (Kerr) Green and husband, Jake Green of Leonard, Texas; grandchildren, Justin Lee, Jessie Logan, Jenna May, Jake Michael, Jaclyn Marie, Jilliann Patricia, Gregory Alex and fiance, Shelby Barton, Dalton Jake, Rachel Dawn, and Haleigh Lynn; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Sherrie LaFollett of McKinney, Texas; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and numerous fur babies and pets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewing Preston and Billie Jean Kerr; and brother-in-law, Keith LaFollett.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 206 N Main St, Leonard, TX 75452.  The family will welcome visitors from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022, at First United Methodist Church for a visitation. After the service, we will proceed to Walnut Grove Cemetery.
