Michael Kavanaugh

Michael Kavanaugh of Allen, Texas passed away at the age of 85 on July 31, 2024. He was born to loving parents Walter Kavanaugh and O’Ree Baggett on July 1, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael graduated from Lasalle College High School in Montgomery, Pennsylvania. He furthered his education at Lasalle College and St. John’s University, where he earned his master’s degree in Physics. On August 27, 1960, he married the love of his life, Bernadette Kavanaugh, in Riverside, New Jersey. Their enduring marriage was a testament to their deep love and commitment. 

Michael had a successful career selling electronic materials and equipment for various companies including Owens-Illinois, E.I. DuPont and Allen Technology Corporation. His passion for education led him to tutor math and physics at Collin College in Plano for the last fourteen years. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, embodying their principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.

In his free time, Michael enjoyed reading, and the art of bread making in his spare time, which brought him great joy and relaxation. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Bernadette Kavanaugh of Allen, Texas; daughters, Annette Kavanaugh of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Susan Kavanaugh of Allen, Texas, Diane Black of Troy New York; son, Fred Kavanaugh of Allen, Texas; grandson, Michael Black of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughter, Margaret Black of New York; brother Kenneth Kavanaugh of Miami, Florida; and a host of numerous other loving family and friends. 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
