IN LOVING MEMORY

Michael "Mike" Jozsef Fodor

May 11 1967 - Mar 17 2018

Michael “Mike” Fodor, 50, beloved brother and uncle, passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2018, in McKinney, Texas. He was born May 11, 1967 to Jozsef and Anna Fodor in Chicago, Illinois. Mike was the youngest of three children. In 1971, his family moved to DeSoto, Texas, where he attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School. In 1979, they moved to Cobh, County Cork, Ireland. They lived there until 1983. They then moved to Brussels, Belgium.  He attended the International School of Brussels. In 1985, they moved to Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Mike finished high school at Niles West and attended Southern Illinois University. In 1996, he then moved to Plano, Texas, to start his IT career. In December of 2007, he found his forever work-home at Independent Bank in McKinney as the Director of Network Services. He loved going to work and he loved all of his co-workers, whom he considered family. Many words from family, friends, and colleagues to describe Mike include: “most caring and generous spirit”, “the last of a true gentleman”, “fun and always happy”, and “a kind and gentle soul”.  Mike would do anything for you and you could always depend on him. Mike enjoyed and was passionate in his charity work with his Auction Source family. He touched so many lives there.

About seven years ago, Mike started taking ballroom dance lessons.  He fell in love with it because of his fabulous instructor and all of his friends at Studio 22.  Latin style dances were his favorite. There were many fun dance cruises and parties at the studio where Mike participated in the showcase dance from Salsa to Hip Hop. In 2015, he participated in his first dance competition at The Galleria where he won the Top Male Student trophy. Mike loved his Jeep, sports cars, NASCAR, and driving at both the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. He enjoyed going to air shows with a special interest for all military airplanes and the Blue Angels.

Family was always first and very dear to his heart. Mike was the most amazing brother and Uncle “Mikey”.   All the kids have many fun and special memories with him, especially on family trips to Six Flags, Disney World, Europe, and ski trips. Whether it was attending lacrosse, football, and soccer games, violin and choir concerts for Angela, cheerleading by Alexis and Amanda, or the many birthday parties, he was always very involved with the entire family.  He was deeply loved and will be missed.

He is survived by Annette and husband Randy, Susan and Darryl, Billy and wife Kim; nephews, Steven and Chris; niece, Kelly; great-nieces, Angela, Alexis, Amanda, and Chloe; and great-nephews, Caden and Nick.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Anna, who passed away on July 23, 2017, and his father, Jozsef Fodor, who passed away on April 18, 2011.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m, Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 652 North Redbud Blvd, McKinney, Texas, 75069.  A luncheon to celebrate his life will immediately follow at the church.  Mike’s favorite place On the Border will be catering.

Memorials may be made to the SPCA of McKinney or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
