Michael Joseph Stangel

Michael Joseph Stangel, age 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, surrounded by his family in Frisco, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helene (Stralka) Stangel, his son, Nicholas, his daughter in-law, Lauren (Ash) Stangel, and his granddaughter, Landry. He was affectionately called, Gramps. 

Michael was born on September 3, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph Stangel and Geraldine (Dressel) Stangel. He was the oldest of 3 siblings. As a boy, Michael loved watching the Chicago Cubs, playing sports, and participating in Church as an altar boy. He married the love of his life, Helene on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1985. 

Michael graduated from DePaul University and the University of Michigan Business School. After graduation, he enjoyed a successful career in Sales and Marketing at Alberto Culver, ending his career as President & CEO of Botaneco in Canada. He was also on the Board of Directors of Pennsbury Manor in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for many years. Michael enjoyed traveling with his family and friends throughout the United States, Europe, Alaska, and Australia. His favorite destination was Maui, Hawaii, where he visited often. He was an avid golfer, tennis, and basketball player. He even completed several Chicago Triathlons. 

A Memorial Service, celebrating Michael’s life, will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, inside the St. Clare Chapel, 8000 Eldorado Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75033, on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 11:00 am.
