IN LOVING MEMORY

Michael John Matusik, Sr.

May 04 1961 - May 31 2025

The Lord called home Michael “Mike” John Matusik, Sr., 64, of McKinney, TX on May 31, 2025. He was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on May 4, 1961 to Stephen and Sylvia Matusik (nee Ucherek).

Mike grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, graduating from Schaumburg High School in 1979. He married the love of his life, Mary Matusik (nee Zimbrakos) on August 17, 1985 and moved to Plano, Texas in 1988. After nearly 30 years in the telecom industry, mostly with Nortel Networks, Mike took on a career in landscaping as a business partner at Texas Sod Company.

Mike was the quintessential family man. He was married to his wife, Mary, for 39 years. He was proud to be a Matusik and instilled Matusik pride in his kids and grandkids. He loved all of his family, and anyone who needed help was treated as family by him. He was the exemplar of Philippians 2:3-4—Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own interests, but also the interests of others.

Mike was a prolific bowler and wore his 300 ring proudly. He loved to play pinochle, horseshoes, cornhole, and slow pitch softball. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports, perform recitals, and receive awards—anything that brought the family together.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Matusik, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; mother, Sylvia; brother, Mark and his wife, Barbie; sister, Theresa and her husband, Ben Bartnicke; brother, Matthew and his wife, Jennifer; son, Michael, Jr. and his wife, Kelli; son, John and his wife, Noel; daughter, Katherine and her husband, Carson Meger; and his grandchildren, KayLynn Matusik, John Matusik, Jr., Michael C. Matusik, Charles Matusik, Madilynn Matusik, Lucy Meger, Stephen Matusik, Griffin Meger, and Layla Meger.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
