Michael Gibson

Michael Gibson of McKinney, Texas passed away July 27, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born on July 15, 1947, to Harold Gibson and Mary (Sitch) Gibson in New York, NewYork.

Michael was a member of the United States Army 25th Infantry Division. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. Following his career in the United States Army, Michael worked as a talented watchmaker for many years. He married the love of his life, Elaine (Castrataro), on December 15, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York. Together they raised a beautiful family, eventually relocating to North Texas.

Michael was a caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him. Michael enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards, going to the casino, the horse track, and car shows. He will forever be known to those who love him as Poppy and the Duke of 60.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Elaine Gibson of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Dina Perez and husband, Rob of McKinney, Texas; sons, Michael Gibson and wife, Debbie of Virginia, Anthony Gibson and wife, Tara of New Jersey, Robert Gibson and wife, Feba of The Colony, Texas, and Vincent Gibson of Denton, Texas; nine grandchildren, Elyssa, Hailey, Tyler, Lauren, Michael, Olivia, Anthony, Trinity, and Aria; sister, Elizabeth Gibson; and many loving family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: sister, Mary Ann Clickman, sister, Jane Gibson, and brother, Cameron Gibson.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  A Rosary Prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. with visitation until 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

A mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church, 110 Saint Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071.

The family has requested donations be made in honor of Michael in lieu of flowers to the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center 1201 East 9th Street, Bonham, Texas 75418.
