IN LOVING MEMORY

Michael Francis Murry, Sr.

Jun 10 1939 - Dec 26 2023

Michael (Mickey) Francis Murry, Sr. peacefully passed away December 26, 2023 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 84. He was the youngest of four siblings, born June 10, 1939, in Dallas, Texas to Marsh R. Murry and Rose Marie Murry.

Mickey was an accomplished, self-made businessman and entrepreneur that touched the lives of many over his 50-year career.   With a relentless work ethic and incredible vision, he built a business empire that consisted of dozens of businesses and hundreds of employees in the 1980’s.   Mickey, with his beloved wife Brenda Murry at his side, elevated Murry Homes into one of the largest custom home building companies in America. During that period Mickey’s business ventures were vast, as he had ownership in banks, ranches, aviation services, restaurants, land speculation companies, cutting horses, and much more.

People who knew Mickey well note not just his remarkable business success, but how positively he touched their lives.   He helped and mentored countless people, giving numerous individuals their starts in the business world.  His advice, generosity and belief in people had profound, lasting effects on many.

In 2015 Mickey released his autobiography titled “Riding the Bull”.  Few people live a life interesting enough to write such a book, but any reader of this riveting story will agree this man had one interesting, roller coaster ride of a life, filled with unique personal endeavors and rewarding business ventures.

Mickey spent his last years living in Sherman Texas, retired, a role he was content with, being tired of dealing with banks and land developers.   While his mind remained sharp to the very end, he did have some health issues.  Brenda was there for him in his final years, providing love and care whenever he needed it.

Mickey was raised in a Christian home and was strong in his faith.  He was confident he would be re-united with loved ones when he left this world.

Mickey is survived by his son, Michael Francis Murry, Jr. and wife, Darlene of Corpus Cristi, Texas; daughter, Dr. Sable Peyton Murry Brown and husband, Jacob of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Austin Murry of San Antonio, Texas and Dylan Murry of Houston, Texas; 3 great grandchildren, Noah, Sage and Eleanor Murry, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pam Youngblood; sister, Marsha McKinney; brother, Peter Murry and son, Rodney Glen Murry.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Mickey during a visitation from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday January 3, 2024, followed by a funeral service at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
