Michael Clifton Clunie of Plano, Texas passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on December 19, 1939, to Richard Dwayne Clunie and Mary Marjorie (Clifton) Clunie, in San Antonio, Texas. Michael graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1958, where he developed a strong foundation for higher education. He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 1962, where he excelled academically and made lifelong friendships. Following his graduation, Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His commitment to duty and unwavering dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow servicemen.
In 1967, Michael found true love when he married Kathleen Ann O'Neill in San Antonio, Texas. Their union was a testament to the power of love and a partnership that would last a lifetime. He enjoyed a fulfilling career in Advertising and Marketing. Michael was known for his unwavering work ethic, creative, artistic mind, quirky sense of humor, and attention to detail. He was a devoted member of Grace Church in Plano serving as an associate pastor. His passion for Jesus shone bright in every area of his life. Michael touched everyone he spoke to whether it be at a restaurant, a hospital or just in the grocery store, Michael led so many to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. He also proudly served on the board for Here’s Life Africa, a missionary organization serving four countries in East Africa. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Clunie of Plano, Texas; daughters, Christine Yarbrough and husband, Nathan of Celina, Texas and Amanda Gold and husband, Jason of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Sean Peters, Brayden Peters, Conner Yarbrough, Riley Yarbrough, Scarlett Gold and Oliver Gold; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Grace Church Chapel, 5000 W. Parker Rd, Plano, Texas 75093.
Michael will be interred during a private ceremony with Military Honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
