Michael Brodie Bruner, age 49, of Fairview, Texas passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on March 5, 2024.
Brodie was born on November 5, 1974 to Betty Bruner and Michael Bruner in Carthage, Texas.
Brodie grew up in Mount Pleasant, Texas, graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1993. He went on to study Business Management and International Business at Baylor University, receiving his BBA in 1996. While attending Baylor, Brodie was inducted as a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Brodie was known by so many, not as Brodie but as “Brodie & Teri”. It was at Baylor that Brodie met the love of his life, Teri Ogle. After graduating from Baylor, Brodie and Teri were married in Houston, Texas on April 5, 1997. In 2004, Brodie and Teri were blessed with their first son, Brendan. A couple of years later they were blessed with twins, Brooklynn and Brantley.
Brodie began his career with Weathermatic in Dallas, TX, where he quickly became a leading voice in commercial and residential water savings. His early years led him to author his first book written to help the industry contractors build profitable businesses for themselves. Brodie went on to have a successful career as Executive Vice President, where he played a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and sale of Weathermatic’s software and innovative technologies to some of the world’s largest companies.
Brodie put his heart into the bigger purpose of his work by helping communities of impoverished areas of the world who did not have clean water to drink. Working with Mike Mason, he helped establish the Weathermatic Foundation with focus on “Save Water. Give Life,” inviting clients into helping build water wells. Through the Foundation’s partnership with Living Water International, Brodie led numerous trips to drill water wells, opening a source of fresh clean water for communities of people. These wells have saved thousands of lives by reducing illness and death from drinking unsafe water.
In his community, Brodie attended Cottonwood Creek Church and was a member of the Lovejoy Home Group. He was admired for his work with Lovejoy ISD, connecting the school system’s giving programs for providing water wells in third world countries. Brodie also served on the Board of Directors of Paper for Water, a philanthropic origami organization that also provides funds to Living Water International.
Brodie leaves behind a legacy of love for God and others. His impact will be measured by so many lives he touched. Above all he cherished Teri and the kids. As a husband, he walked out Ephesians 5, living in the way he sacrificed and loved Teri. As a dad, he put everything he had into being intentional as he enjoyed supporting Brendan, Brantley and Brooklynn through baseball, golf, wrestling, horseback riding, skateboarding and so many more activities. When Brendan showed interest in cars, Brodie paved the way for him to become the family car expert, later leading Brendan to Engineering at Texas A&M. As Brooklynn and Brantley pursued their own interests, Brodie invested in each quickly becoming a wrestling dad, a Swiftie, and an equestrian dad.
Some of Brodie’s most missed qualities will be his unflappable nature, his quiet humility mixed with determination, his intentionality he put into his family and friends and his ability to bring humor into any room. Brodie was known as a voice of wisdom from a young age, and he will be remembered as a living testament to the power of prayer, as he battled and beat childhood cancer at the age of 11 years old.
Brodie will be deeply missed by family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him this side of Heaven.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teri Bruner; sons & daughter, Brendan, Brantley and Brooklynn; parents, Betty Bruner, Mike Bruner and wife, Helen; brothers, Bryan Bruner & wife, Marci, Brady Bruner & wife, Paige. Brodie is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Linda Ogle, sisters-in-law, Tricia Brown and husband Kyle, Traci Spann; many loving nieces and nephews that called him “Uncle Brodie,” and a host of other cousins and loving family and friends.
