Michael Albert McLaughlin

With profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Michael Albert McLaughlin of Lucas, Texas on September 17, 2020 at the age of 65.  He was born on September 21, 1954 to William McLaughlin and Dorothy (Prouty) McLaughlin in Malden, Massachusetts. He married Janean Dane on September 27, 1980 at St. John of the Cross, in Western Springs, Illinois.

Michael practiced Veterinary Medicine for 35 years serving the East Plano Texas area, where he was well known for his gentle, caring nature towards his patients and their families. His family and friends loved him for many reasons, but most of all his sense of humor, selfless nature, and for being a wonderful, loving husband and father. Michael was also a devoted member of Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Janean McLaughlin; daughter, Kelly McLaughlin (fiancé, Larry Firmin); son, Michael Allen McLaughlin (wife, Stephanie Gerhart); sisters, Dottie Wilson (husband, Charles Wilson) and Patricia Marliere (husband, Raymond Marliere); brothers, William McLaughlin and Richard McLaughlin (wife, Carol McLaughlin); and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy McLaughlin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Saint Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church, 110 Saint Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071.

A rosary and “come and go” visitation will be on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  Rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers may be sent to surviving family through Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Flower Shop in Allen or memorial contributions may be made to The American Kidney Cancer Foundation at www.kidneyfund.org.
