Melton O. Field

Melton O. Field was born on September 1st, 1940, in Haskell, Texas. He was a Roby Lion from 1st through 12th grade graduating with the class of 1958. He played football, basketball, and tennis, competing at the state competition his senior year. He married Jo Ann Duke on October 10th, 1963, in Rotan, Texas. They spent more than 59 years together living in the Texas towns of Rotan, Ozona, McCamey, and Abilene, before finally settling in Frisco.

Melton served in the Army and Army National Guard for several years, He worked for West Texas Utilities and Central -Southwest for 40+ years serving as a lineman, serviceman, local manager, district manager, and consultant.

An avid golfer, Melton spent a great deal of time on the golf course, enjoying the outdoors, the competition, but mostly the camaraderie. He was a natural musician and could sing and play the guitar beautifully by ear. Melton was a “dog magnet”, able to make even the shyest of animals succumb to his charms. An amazing pet owner, he was gentle, and always rooted for the underdog.

Melton loved, and was loved deeply by his wife, Jo Ann; his daughter, Leigh Ann, as well as many family members and friends. He was always willing to help others and went above and beyond for his loved one without a complaint. Melton will be greatly missed by all who loved him and will live in their hearts forever.

Melton was preceded in death by his brother, Marlin Field; and his parents, George Earl Field and Colleen Field.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas.
