IN LOVING MEMORY

Melba Hunt Moseley

May 21 1923 - Nov 17 2019

Melba Hunt Moseley of Celina, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at the age of 96.  She was born on May 21, 1923, in Josephine, Texas, to Joseph and Sallie Hunt.  Melba was married for 65 years to the love of her life, Thomas P. Moseley, whom preceded her in death, along with her son, Michael L. Moseley, who proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Military Medical Sgt.

Melba is survived by her daughters, Lorene Ronchini and her husband, Elio, of Katy, Texas, and Susan Moseley of Celina, Texas; her son, Tom L. Moseley and his wife, Shari, of Omaha, Nebraska; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Moseley, of Sanger, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Melba worked as a wife and mother for 45 years.  After moving to Omaha, Nebraska, she began working with the Omaha Children’s Hospital and the State of Nebraska.  This is where Melba and Thomas adopted Susan and, in true Moseley fashion, opened their hearts as did their three teenage children, to welcome Susan to the family.

Melba later moved to Mason City, Iowa, where she worked for the State of Iowa as a home health aide and supervisor for 12 years.  After retiring, Melba and Thomas moved back to Celina, Texas, to care for their mothers and enjoy retirement.

However, you can’t keep a good couple down and Melba worked as a sitter for several children, guiding and watching them grow from babies to high school teenagers.  To this day, these now-grown young people have visited their unofficial ‘grandmother’ several times a year.  The love in Melba’s heart never faltered, and she always put others before herself.

Melba loved to read and believed you truly can keep your mind active by learning or reading something new every day.  She did hundreds of word search puzzles and read over 75 books on her nook.  She enjoyed listening to her gospel CDs and tapes.

She loved to quilt, sew and crochet.  In the early years of their marriage, Melba hand-sewed button holes in clothing for a penny a piece.  She proudly made her children’s clothes and taught her daughters to sew at an early age.

Friends are invited to a visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, 109 South Oklahoma, Celina, Texas, on Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held here on Monday, November 25, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.  Melba will be laid to rest following the funeral service in the Moseley family area of Cottage Hill Cemetery next to her loving husband, Thomas.
