Melba Barnett

Melba Barnett, age 83 of Garland, Texas passed away November 20, 2014 in Garland, Texas. She was born October 8, 1931 in Allen, Texas to Floyd Everett and Eva Marie (Evans) Yates. Melba retired from Baylor Medical Center of Garland. She married Alvin Barnett on November 1, 1947 in Blue Ridge, Texas. She was a longtime member of the Plano Good Sams Travel Club and the Wylie Red Hats.

Melba is survived by her daughter, Diana Knight and husband Larry of Garland, Texas; son, Shane Barnett of Paris, Texas; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Betty Antwiler of Caddo, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mills of Grand Prairie, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Barnett; daughter, Bettie Chadwick; parents, Floyd and Marie Yates; sister, Patsy Broyles and brother, Lonny Yates.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
