Melba Doris Allen, age 84, a recent resident of Jackson Living Center, Juliette Fowler Homes, passed from this life after a short illness, on Friday, November 30, 2007. She was born in Princeton, Texas in 1923, and grew up in McKinney, Texas. In 1942 she married Roy Allen, Jr. prior to his service in the US Army. After the war, they settled in Garland where they found lifelong friends and decades of happiness in a small neighborhood near Miller Road. She is survived by many of those friends; nieces; nephews; cousins; and her church family at Monica Park Christian Church in Garland. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Charles, who died as a child; an older brother, Howard, who was killed in World War II; and her husband, Roy, Jr. who died in 1985. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM, Monday, December 3, 2007, at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney. Friends will be received during a visitation on Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, prior to the service, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
