Mable "Maxine" Thomas

Maxine Thomas of McKinney, Texas passed away on October 9, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born January 27, 1936 to Herman Wallis and Hattie Hearn Wallis in New Madrid, Missouri. Maxine married Barney Thomas on July 5, 1955. She was passionate about her family, especially her three precious grandchildren and all the tiny great grandchildren. She was known as "Mawmaw" to her grandchildren, and she was greatly loved. Her favorite hobbies through the years included bowling, fishing, painting, sewing, and playing cards with her brothers. She was a wonderful cook, and she loved to entertain her family.

She is survived by her son, Timothy Thomas and wife, Sara of McKinney, Texas; three grandchildren, Megan Butler and husband, Preston of Dallas, Texas; Patrick Thomas and wife, Carrie of Oakland, California; and Molly Thomas of Denver; four great-grandchildren, Clara Mae Butler, Ambrose Butler, Jack Thomas and Millie Thomas; two brothers, Paul Wallis and his partner Richarda, and James Wallis; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. Her Michigan nieces and nephews will dearly miss their Aunt Max. 

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Thomas on March 14, 2003; parents, Herman and Hattie Wallis; brothers, Vernon Wallis and Dick Wallis; and daughter, Cynthia Thomas.

A private family visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Coats Funeral Home, 3141 Sashabaw Road, Waterford, Michigan 48329.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., at Coats Funeral Home, 3141 Sashabaw Road, Waterford, Michigan 48329. A committal service will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, 216 University Drive, Pontiac, Michigan 48342.

Coats Funeral Home Covid-19 restrictions are as followed: masks are required for entrance and only 20 people at a time per room with a total of 3 rooms. Please feel free to move inside and outside when visiting. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local SPCA, as Maxine was a lifelong lover of animals, and never met a kitten she didn't love.
