Maxine Laverne Hamilton of Waco, Texas formerly of Plano, Texas passed away September 9, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on August 8, 1932 to Samie Scott and Pauline (Kirk) Scott in Obion County, Tennessee. Maxine was a graduate of Union City High School in Union City, Tennessee. She started her higher education at the University of Tennessee in Martin, Tennessee and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Maxine started her working career as a middle school English teacher. She later worked 15 years for the United States Internal Revenue Service followed by 25 years dedicated service at H&R Block. Maxine married the late Meredith Wayne Hamilton on June 5, 1955 and they enjoyed 44 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. She enjoyed the challenge crossword and sudoku puzzles and sewing, also she was part of the Smile Stitchers, an organization where they make felt finger puppets. Maxine was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Maxine will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Scott Hamilton of Friendswood, Texas; daughter, Jeanne Beall and husband, John of Groesbeck, Texas; grandson, Reece Beall and wife, Katelyn; granddaughter, Meredith Palmer and husband, Patrick; and a host cherish church family and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith Hamilton; parents, Samie and Pauline Scott; sister, Alice Kelley and sister, Sarah Scott.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
