Maxine (Viersen) DeVoll Thomas of Denison, Texas passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 90. She was born on January 17, 1928 to Herbert K. and Ruby Edith (Cannon) Viersen in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Maxine graduated from Ponca City High School in Oklahoma. She married Charles W. DeVoll in 1946 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and she and Charles moved to Ames, Iowa where Charles was enrolled at Iowa State University. Maxine worked for Iowa State extension service in the 4H department. They eventually moved to Richardson, Texas in 1959 where Charles worked for Collins Radio. Charles passed away in 1979. She married Lendon Ray Thomas on June 10, 1983 in Richardson, Texas. Maxine and Lendon continued to live in the house on St. Luke’s Dr. in Richardson where Maxine had lived since 1959. They moved to Lake Texoma in 2008. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas.
Maxine is survived by her son, Bob DeVoll and wife, Pam of Denison, Texas; grandson, Chad DeVoll and wife, Valerie; granddaughter, Emily DeVoll; great-grandchildren, BrynLee DeVoll, Aubreigh Marsh, Kayla Hernandez; and numerous other loving family and friends. She is also survived by her late husband, Lendon Thomas’ family.
Maxine is preceded by her first husband, Charles W. DeVoll; her second husband, Lendon R. Thomas; and her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
