Maxie Ray Neal, affectionately known as "SugarPlum," age 78, of Frisco, Texas, passed away June 9, 2016. Maxie was born August 1, 1937, in Mamou, Louisiana, to Alfred and Margia (Lartigue) Guillory. Maxie accepted the Lord at 13 years old at St. Paul Baptist church, in Mamou, Louisiana.
Maxie's entire academic career was spent in Louisiana. She attended Rosenwald (elementary) school in Mamou. Her high school years were at Ville Platte High School and subsequently, she spent a number of years at Southern University, a historically black College in Baton Rouge. It was there at Southern, where she met the true love of her life, Mr. Fred L. Neal. They married on December 26, 1957, in Waukegan, Illinois. In 1970, Maxie began an illustrious career in banking. She had 16 years of service at The First National Bank of Chicago. Maxie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in The Colony, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Neal of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Alfreida Woods and husband, Teryl; granddaughter, Tiffany Terese Hicks and husband, Randall of Lavon, Texas; great-granddaughters, Lexi Rene Hicks and Kennedy Ray Hicks; sisters, Zelia Donald and husband, Huey, Atelia Guillory, and Dianna Carrier; and brothers, Wilfred Guillory and Phillip Guillory and wife, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m., on Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
