Max O. Vaughan

Mr. Max O. Vaughan, age 78 of Allen, Texas, went to be with the Lord November 1, 2005 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on January 30, 1927 to James Money and Thelma Ray (Hargrave) Vaughan in Nevada, Texas. He served during World War II as a Lab Technician in the U. S. Army. Max graduated from East Texas State University. On August 29, 1953, He married Hettie Lokey in Princeton, Texas. Max began teaching in 1953 in Allen. He served the Allen I.S.D. as High School Principal, Director of Maintenance and Transportation, High School Football Coach, and Girls Basketball Coach. In 1989, the Max O. Vaughan Elementary School was named after Max recognizing him for his dedication to the Allen I.S.D. Max was a member and a Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Allen. He was also involved with the Builders for Christ organization. He was a member of the Plano Men of Note Barbershop Quartet and an avid fan of Allen High School sports. He also loved to fish and cook. Survivors include his wife, Hettie Vaughan of Allen; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Todd Wyckoff of Allen; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Angie Vaughan of Greenville, TX and Rodney and Cindy Vaughan of Lucas, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon, Caleb, and Ethan Vaughan; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Jimmy Mills; and many other loving relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, November 4, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Allen, 201 E. McDermott, Pastor Chad Selph and Chaplain Rickey Hargrave officiating. Interment will follow at Nevada Cemetery in Nevada, Texas. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Allen Education Foundation, 601 E. Main, Allen, TX 75002 in memory of Max O. Vaughan.
