Mattie Lou (Gill) Perkins Sexton

Mattie Lou Sexton of Denison, Texas passed away April 13, 2021 at the age of 87. She was born on February 27, 1934 to Roy Gill and Gladys Rolen in Haworth, Oklahoma. Mattie married the late Jessie Dee Perkins, Sr. on January 16, 1956 in Farmersville, Texas, then later married the late Joe Paul Sexton. She worked as a seamstress for many years. Mattie enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.  Mattie was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Purser and husband, Larry of McKinney, Texas; son, Jessie Dee Perkins, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Van Alstyne, Texas; daughter, Patricia Ann Hernandez of McKinney, Texas; and son, Gary Wayne Perkins and wife, Kristin of Princeton, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren, other loving family members, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gladys Gill; first husband, Jessie Perkins; second husband, Joe Sexton; ex-husband, Floyd Tedford; daughters, Margaret Ann Perkins and Shirley Jean Moncier; and son, Floyd “Pete” Tedford; sisters, Joyce Hiberton and Pearl McCreary; and brother, Clarence “Bub” Rolen; grandchildren, Terry Lynn Tutor and Ricky Lynn Moncier; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Perkins and Jacob Perkins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Mattie’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:  https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/mattie-lou-gill-perkins-sexton.  After the service, the recorded live steam will be available for viewing at the same link location. 

Interment is to follow the funeral service at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
