Matthew James Brown of Melissa, Texas passed away on November 20, 2021 at the age of 21. He was born on June 16, 2000 to Brent Ray Brown and Mary Katherine Kauth in McKinney, Texas. Matthew grew up in Melissa where he graduated from Melissa High School in 2019. After high school he attended Texas Tech University where he was an active member of the Saddle Tramps for TTU. Matthew worked for Texas Tech University parking services and for Amber Electric. He enjoyed serving others, sharing music with friends, golfing, he was an Eagle Scout and was an alumnus of Saddle Tramps at Texas Tech.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Mary and Brent Brown of Melissa, Texas; brother, John Michael Brown of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Katie Brown of Melissa, Texas; grandparents, Jim Brown and Nell of Commerce, Texas and John E. Kauth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; aunts and uncles, Kent and Susan Brown, Trent and Chantal Brown, David and Pat Kauth, Susan and David Ruen, Tom and Dian Kauth, and Ann and Terry Russell; many cousins; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beverley Kauth; and uncle, Michael Kauth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew Brown Memorial Camp Scholarship fund through City Church Melissa. The scholarship was established to assist youth in need to be able to attend Summer Camp and other discipling activites.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at City Church, 2300 Vineyard Hill Lane, McKinney, Texas 75071. The funeral service will also be live streamed on the City Church Melissa Facebook and YouTube pages.
Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Melissa, Texas.
