On February 19, 2024, Matthew Milleson, beloved husband, father, brother, son-in-law, and friend passed away. He was born on September 14, 1967, to Howard and Shirley (Anderson) Milleson. He grew up in Odessa, Texas where he remembered spending all of his childhood outside playing sports at a park with his brother, Jay, and neighborhood friends. Matthew graduated from Permian High School and went on to West Texas State University, earning a degree in finance.
After graduation, Matthew made his home in Amarillo and began his work life in banking. He then made a career move to State Farm. He was active in his community and was a Big Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle. He served in various positions for the United Way of Amarillo and was president of the Amarillo Optimists Club. Matthew was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo, and it was here that his relationship with Christ really began and through the connections he made and the friendships established, Matthew was encouraged and challenged and grew deeply in his faith. He enjoyed serving as a youth leader and spent countless Sunday afternoons playing basketball with his pastor and a wonderful group of guys. He moved to Dallas at the end of 1 998. Matthew and Jana met in the Spring of 1998 due to the matchmaking skills of friends. They married on May 15, 1999, and began their life together. They were later blessed with two precious sons, Jack and Grant. They found their church home at Prestonwood Baptist Church. It was here that they found the people they would share and do life with. These dear and treasured friends have walked with them to this moment, and he was honored to serve as a deacon.
Matthew was a hard worker for State Farm and served in various positions throughout his career. He built relationships and friendships that meant a great deal to him. He was known for his work ethic, his integrity, his calm demeanor, and his ever-present quick wit.
In his free time, he enjoyed duck hunting with his friends, time with people he loved, and cheering on his beloved Texas Rangers. He was a faithful fan for many years through all the ups and downs. We are grateful he was able to see them win the World Series.
Matthew was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jana; beloved sons, Jack and Grant; his in-laws, Lee and Betty Derrick, his siblings and their spouses, Lisa and Mark Haenelt, Jay and Courtney, and Joshua and Kelly Milleson and 8 nieces and nephews.
