Matthew Kyle “Matt” Wacaster, beloved son of Jerry and Linda Wacaster, was born June 13, 1979 and passed from this life too soon on June 18, 2023 at the age of 44. He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Joe Wacaster. He was survived by his daughter, Jordyn Leigh Wacaster, his father, Jerold Wacaster, his sister, Jennifer Lyman and husband Jason, his girlfriend, Isabel, his ex-wife Robin Wacaster, nieces and nephews, Calvin Lyman and wife Abigail, Carlie Robinson and husband Isaiah, Cailey Lyman, Conner Lyman.
Matt began his life in this world weighing 9 lbs 13.5 oz. and 21 inches long. A big baby. And grew to be a big man at six foot eight inches. His height became such a notoriety that he got his height tattooed on this left shoulder. When anyone asked how tall he was, he just lifted his shirt sleeve and showed them the tattoo.
Matt graduated High School in 1997 from Christway Academy in Duncanville. He ran a small business franchise, The Grout Medic, for several years. He entered the field of technology around 2014 where he excelled in that field which lead him to several positions in support of cloud computing. He ultimately joined Microsoft around 2017. During this time, he completed his bachelor’s degree from Phoenix University.
Sports was a big part of Matt’s life. He played multiple sports from his youth and into his adult years. He was always very active in sports. In school he played baseball, football, and basketball. Basketball being his favorite, he excelled in that sport during his high school years. He loved to go snow skiing in Colorado with his family. As an adult, he stayed active playing basketball and other sports. In his later years he moved on to Volleyball where he excelled, not only because of his height, which was a great advantage, but more so because of his athletic ability. He was also a great fan of professional sports and knew all the National league teams and stats, especially in professional basketball.
He was into Star Wars and Marvel Universe series in a serious way. He saw all the movies and the series and knew how everything fit together. He could talk for hours about them. Almost like a cult following.
Matt taught himself how to play guitar. He had a great ear for music and chord progressions. He could play country, rock, and praise songs.
Of all the things Matt was passionate about, his greatest love and passion was for his daughter, Jordyn. From the day she was born, you could see in his eyes how proud he was to be her father. He nurtured her along the way and provided every opportunity he could for her to excel, from ballet, to cheerleading, to volleyball. He was her biggest fan and supporter. He has spent time with her taking her to get coffee before school twice a week, taking her to Six Flags and other fun places, going to movies together, just spending time together. He was a great father, and his love for Jordyn will give her a lot to hold on to and many great memories. This, more than anything, defined who Matt was and his character. The greatest legacy one could hope for: a great father.
May he rest in the bosom of Jesus, and in the arms of his Mom who loved him so much.
