IN LOVING MEMORY

Mary Ruth Welch

Nov 28 1926 - Feb 16 2022

Mary Ruth Welch of McKinney, Texas passed away on February 16, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born on November 28, 1926 to George Watson Morris and Cletice Tressie Riley in McKinney, Texas. Mary Ruth was born, raised and spent her whole life in McKinney. She met her husband Roby Welch on the McKinney Square, shortly after Roby got out of the Navy. After a short courtship, the two love birds got married on December 8, 1945 in McKinney. They began their family with the birth of their son, Gerald Eugene Welch. They later grew their family with the birth of their daughters, Janet and later, Barbara. Mary Ruth loved her family. Whether it was early in her life, playing the guitar and singing with her brothers and sister or when it was the times playing dominoes and board games, it was always her family that made her the happiest. She never got to win, always letting others win and enjoying the excitement it brought to them. Mary Ruth’s family will miss her homemade meals especially her rolls and salmon patties. She was an artist at making delicious country meals for her family. The expertise didn’t stop there. They’d then dig into the banana nut homemade ice cream she made. Mary Ruth lived a humble life and never thought of herself. There was never a time that her kids were left wanting or her grandchildren and great-grandchildren walked away without a little extra in their pockets, thanks to Mammaw. Mary Ruth was a member of the Northwest Christian Church for over 50 years.

Mary Ruth is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hendrickson and husband, Steve of McKinney, Texas; brother, Frank Morris and wife, Patsy of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Tracie, Brent, Kenny, Jennifer, Melanie, Amanda, Julie and Bryan; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Welch; son, Gene Welch; daughter, Janet Ruth Stice; parents, George and Cletice Riley; brother, Otis Morris and her sister, Helen Calverley.
