Mary Ann McCarley

Mary Ann McCarley of McKinney, Texas passed away the morning of February 16, 2021 at the age of 89. Born on October 13, 1931 in Uniontown, Kansas to Harry E. and Verna (Poor) Vanlandingham, Ann was a devoted nurse, mother and grandmother. Ann graduated from The St. Joseph School of Nursing in Vancouver, Washington in 1952, shortly before getting married to life-long partner L.B. McCarley on September 24th of that very same year in Austin, Texas. In addition to her familial roles as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, in her professional life, Ann served for many years as the director of nursing at Wysong Hospital in McKinney.

Ann is survived by her children, Kevin McCarley of Everett, Washington, Brian McCarley of McKinney, Texas, Dana Pennington of McKinney, Texas, and Susan McCarley and Steve Smith of Newbury Park, California; her grandchildren, Erica and Rich Johnson, Haley and Phillip Maldonado, Joe McCarley, Sydney Smith, and Jenny and Justin Appleby; as well as her six great grandchildren and countless others with whom she shared her life and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Verna Vanlandingham; her husband, L.B. McCarley, DDS; her eldest son, David McCarley, DDS; her sisters, Pauline Canion and Mable Elder; and her brother, Gail Vanlandingham.

Family and friends are invited to an informal visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home (2525 N Central Expressway, Allen, TX 75013) on the afternoon of Sunday, February 21, 2021 at their convenience, to pay their respects and bid a final farewell to the dearly departed.

Ann will be later interred at Blue Ridge Cemetery following a small, private family graveside memorial.
