Mary Margaret Marks (Fitzgerald), age 99, went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2021. Margaret was born on June 26, 1921 in Royce City, Texas, the second of four siblings. She married her first husband and father of her children, Albert Burns, on June 10, 1938 in Rockwall, Texas.
Margaret married Richard Fitzgerald in 1999 and was married to him until his death in 2017. She worked in the cosmetology field for many years and retired from Macy’s at the age of 65.
Margaret was a true and faithful servant of her Lord, Jesus Christ, and spend hours each day reading her bible and listening to her favorite hymns. We will forever cherish our daily visits with her. She was our inspiration for her faith, her strength, and her fierce independence. The family would like to extend our deepest thanks for the staff of Victoria Gardens of Allen for their care of our Mother. Our special thanks to Brenda, Nona, and Kyle with New Century Hospice for their devotion to our Mother and their love and compassion during the pandemic.
Margaret is survived by her children, Leroy Burns and wife, Betty, Paul Burns and wife, Josie, Debbie McCommas and husband, Hal; stepson, Michael Fitzgerald and wife, Kathy; brother, Graham Burns; eight grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; seventeen step-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, Elsie Mae and James Dewey Burns; daughter, Jeanne Mae; brother, James Leroy; and sister, Evelynne Marie.
Due to the pandemic, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
