IN LOVING MEMORY

Mary J. Gregoriew

Apr 21 1934 - Nov 25 2021

On Thursday, November 25, 2021, Mary Jo Gregoriew died at her home in Melissa, Texas at 87 years old. Mary Jo was married to Dale Ira Gregoriew for 46 years and is survived by her daughter Lisa Mary Gregoriew and her children Brittany Elisabeth Stout, Brittany’s wife Connor Jade Stout and Mathias Afonosy-Carl Stout; her son John Peter Gregoriew, JP’s wife Kelley Bronk Gregoriew, and their daughter Kylie Janae Gregoriew; her brother John Shultz, her sister Marcia Cook and many other relatives. Mary was a beloved sister, cousin, aunt, mother, and grandmother not only to her biological family, but to those she would consider family through life, specifically Alan and Reah Meier and their children Todd Meier, Todd’s wife Nicolette, and Rhett Meier; Amy McDonald, her foreign-exchange student daughter Boel Gustoffsen, Boel’s husband Erik, and their children Herman and Theodor. Mary was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1952. She then went on to Olivet Nazarene University, Wittenberg University and then Central Oklahoma College to become the first woman in her family to get not only a college degree, but a Master’s degree as well. She started her career as a teacher, was a pastor’s wife, a stay-at-home mom, then received her insurance license and worked in insurance sales until she became a Certified Financial Planner and started Investment Services Center in Allen, TX. She sold her company and retired at the age of 75. Mary and Dale met in Springfield, Ohio and married in August 1965. Pastor Dale preceded her in death in 2011. An avid sports fan, Mary loved cheering for whichever team her children or grandchildren were playing on, coaching, or filming. If the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, or the Texas Rangers were playing, then it was a close call which took the majority of her attention. Her happy place was around the table with her family and all the friends that her kids and grandchildren brought into the mix. Each quickly becoming Grandma Mary’s kids. Usually, these times at the table involved playing cards, dominoes, other games and a whole lot of laughter. The Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the Cowboy Church of Collin County, 2800 FM 3364, Princeton, Texas 75407. The service will be live streamed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/u8xZANwW-ww.
