Mary R. Cantu of Allen, Texas passed away August 11, 2018, at the age of 70. She was born January 12, 1948, to Espiridion Cavasoz and Carmen (Perez) Cavasoz in Dallas, Texas. Mary grew up in Cedar Hill, Texas and was a graduate of Duncanville High School. She married Fred G. Cantu, Jr. on February 21, 1965 in Dallas, Texas. Mary was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church. She worked for Chase Bank as a personal banker for 15 years and had previously worked for First National Bank and First Republic Bank in Dallas, Texas. Mary retired in November of 2017. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, working charities and most of all spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Fred G. Cantu, Jr. of Allen, Texas; daughter, Sylvia Smith and husband Paul of Garland, Texas; grandson, Ernesto Longoria Smith of Garland, Texas; mother, Carmen Perez Cavasoz of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Pauline P. Cavasoz of Tucson, Arizona; brothers, Jesse Cavasoz and wife Shevawn of Romeo, Michigan; Pete Cavasoz and wife Teresa of Grand Saline, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by father, Espiridion Cavasoz, Jr.; son, Alfred Anthony Cantu; and sister, Carmen Perez Ausley.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
