Mary Nell Schultz passed away January 12, 2024, in Allen, Texas. She was born November 1, 1942, in Enid, Oklahoma to Harley Vivian Cole and Hazel Mae Murray.
She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, Mary attended The University of Oklahoma for her undergraduate degree and received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Colorado University.
Mary and her husband, Alvin Schultz, were married in 1967 in Enid, Oklahoma. She and Alvin lived in many different states following Alvin’s work, before they finally settled in San Antonio, Texas. In all their many locations, Mary and Alvin were involved in their church. They helped with different Bible study classes, camp trips, and Mary was instrumental in the youth and children’s ministry in their churches. Mary was a true example of a graceful woman. She was incredibly kind and always left people with a warm feeling in their heart. She loved to write devotionals, some of which were published, and songs. Alvin and Mary enjoyed all of their rescued puppies, from “Boxer” the boxer to “Tiger” the skye terrier and several others.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Cole and wife, Margaret of Alva, Oklahoma, brother-in-law, Jerry Lucas of McKinney, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lee Schultz, her parents, her brother Ed Cole, sister Mildred Bockelman and sister Ruth Lucas.
She will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her sweet Christian spirit and kind heart.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
