IN LOVING MEMORY

Mary Lou Bray

Oct 09 1936 - Nov 25 2022

Mary Lou Bray of Plano, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022.  She was born on October 9, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Leo Charles and Marjorie Irene Duncan Aschwanden.  Mary Lou graduated from Lillis High School on May 25, 1953, and continued with her education, graduating from Donnelly College in 1955.  She married Ronald Steven Bray on July 21, 1956, and was blessed with four children, Mark Bray, Charles Bray, Craig Bray and Laura Bray.

After raising her children, Mary Lou’s professional life took off around 1975 in the oil and gas industry in east Texas.  She was extraordinary in her abilities and was one of the few pioneering female Landmen in the industry at that time. Mary Lou earned her accreditation as a CPL, Certified Professional Landman, and is well respected in the industry. Mary Lou worked in Tyler, Texas with Orbit Oil and Gas and Trend Resources in Denver, Colorado before coming back home working in Dallas, Texas for Hunt Oil Company. She had many career highlights as a vital part of these companies, and she retired from Hunt Oil Company in January of 2008. Mary Lou later worked with her son Charles Bray as an integral part of the land department at Lone Star Land & Energy and White Rock Oil & Gas.

Mary Lou enjoyed all things athletic in her off time from fishing and snow skiing to biking across Europe. After retirement, her favorite past time was traveling to Las Vegas and exploring the casinos, shows and shops. When home, she also enjoyed visiting the casinos here in Oklahoma with her family members. To stay fit, Mary Lou taught water aerobics at several senior centers and biked every greenbelt she could.  In her quiet time Mary Lou was an avid reader and spent time caring for her home and flowering trees.  Mary Lou will be remembered by all who knew her as intelligent and tenacious with a never-ending ability to persevere through the ebbs and flows of life.

Mary Lou is survived by 3 of her 4 children, Charles Bray, Craig Bray and Laura Bray.  Her eldest son Mark Bray passed in 2019.  She is also survived by daughters and sons in law, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and many great grandchildren who affectionately called her Gma.

Rest in peace Mary Lou Bray with much love and our never-ending gratitude.
