Mary Lois Burns

Mary Lois (Grayson) Burns, a resident of Frisco, Texas passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 94.  She was born on January 5, 1930, to Mercer Grayson and Lois Vivian (Caddell) Grayson in Birmingham, Alabama.  She grew up in Birmingham and attended Birmingham Southern College studying music.

Mary married Roland Burns in June 1951 in Birmingham, Alabama and the couple was blessed with four children.  Before starting a family, Mary and Roland spent some time in Japan as Roland finished his miliary service.  The family moved from Birmingham, Alabama to Barrington, Illinois, then to Memphis Tennessee and finally to Jackson, Mississippi as Mary’s husband, Roland, advanced in his career in public accounting.  Mary moved to Texas in 1991 to be closer to her grandchildren.  Mary made friends easily in each new home.  She enjoyed music, sewing, painting and studying the Bible.  Mary spent her final year at the Sunrise Senior Community in Frisco, Texas, where she was cared by their loving staff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mercer and Lois Grayson; husband, Roland Burns; daughter, Patricia Burns; and sister, Margaret Ellis.  She is survived by her brother M. David Grayson, Jr. and her three sons, David Burns of Houston, Texas; Roland Burns, Jr. of Frisco, Texas and Daniel Burns of Augusta, Georgia and her three daughters-in-law, Missy Burns, Sheryl Burns and Heather Burns.  She also is survived by eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held in January at a later date.
