Mary Katherine Wortham

Mary Katherine (Duncan) Wortham, known by many as Doll, of Allen, Texas passed away October 22, 2020 at the age of 68. She was born on August 21, 1952 to Alexander Duncan Sr. and Mary Lee (Thomas) Duncan in Montgomery, Alabama. On August 7, 1976 Mary married the love of her life, Robert Wortham, who faithfully remained by her side until her Master called her home.

She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Alabama State University; where she pledged Delta Sigma Theta, Beta Eta chapter in the fall of 1971.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined St. James Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. After relocating to Texas along with her family, Mary was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park, First Baptist Church of McKinney, and then North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship. She was a faithful member of the NDCBF Tuesday morning bible study until her health failed.

Mary began her career at Blue Cross & Blue Shield as an executive secretary. She later became employed with CTX Mortgage Company as a loan processor. After 12 years, Mary decided to follow her dream and opened a clothing store called Image 1. Then later due to her health, she ended her career with Sunbelt Telecommunications.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Mary Lee Duncan and by her siblings Sanders Myrick, James Duncan, Cynthia Ann (Duncan) Young, and Charles Duncan.

Mary leaves to cherish many memories: her devoted and loving husband, Robert Wortham of Allen, Texas; daughter, Bettina Wortham of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Jaylon Patterson of McKinney, Texas; siblings, Betty Myrick of Atlanta, Georgia, Alexander Duncan of Montgomery, Alabama, Paulette Churn of Detroit, Michigan, and Willie Duncan of Grand Prairie, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous other loving family and friends.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety, and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, October 30, 2020, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Mary’s obituary page by clicking on the following link: Celebrationoflife.tv. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Mary and show their support to her family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.
