Mary Josephine (Freeman) Sharp of Plano, Texas passed away on January 11, 2018 at the age of 81. She was born on September 5, 1936 to Rube and Geneva (Pratt) Freeman in Love County, Oklahoma. She grew up in Oklahoma, graduating from Meadowbrook High School in 1954 where she played basketball. Mary married Deward Sharp on June 14, 1955 in Marietta, Oklahoma. They moved to Plano in 1963 and she worked for Plano ISD as a school secretary for over 30 years. Mary enjoyed quilting, gardening and watching women’s college basketball. She was a member of West Allen Church of Christ in Allen.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Deward Sharp of Plano; daughters, Angie Goode and husband, Ken of Plano, Elizabeth Vinson and husband, Scott of Denton; grandchildren, Rachel Brewer and husband, Todd, Sarah Wilson and husband, Mark, Matthew Vinson and wife, Susan, Hannah Webster and husband, Dillon, Ruth Day and husband, Chris, and Jordan Goode and wife, Jacoby; great-grandchildren, Erik, Isaac, Asher, Nathan, Heidi, Levi and Lydia Mary; sisters, Brenda Minyard and husband, Leroy of Yukon, Oklahoma and Debbie McAbee and husband, Richard of Telephone, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Monday, January 15, 2018 to pay their respects and to sign the register book. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Oklahoma.
