Mary Josephine Schauer, age 76, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Plano, Texas. She was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on September 8, 1946, an only child, to Ralph Curtis and Deryl (Manning) Wooster. Mary Jo graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School, Class of 1964, and then went on to further her education at Wisconsin State University in Eau Claire. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri, in 1968 and had her only daughter, Stephanie, in 1970. She moved across the state in 1980 to St. Joseph, Missouri, where she lived until moving to Texas in 2001. She attended Missouri Western State College later in life and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1991. Over the years she worked in real estate, retail sales, and was a professional casino dealer in Kansas City, Missouri. Mary Jo enjoyed drawing, painting, puzzles, photography, cross-stitch, knitting and researching her family’s ancestry. Upon discovering social media, she also loved staying in touch with family and friends on Facebook. Mary Jo is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Patrick Kalahar of Plano, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Deryl Wooster.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will be live streamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/mary-josephine-schauer. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available at the same link location. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Mary Jo’s name at www.komen.org
