Mary Fitzgerald of Allen, Texas passed away on May 26, 2017, at the age of 82. She was born June 8, 1934, to William Kelly and Elizabeth Cahill in Dublin, Ireland. Mary was raised in Ireland, in a Catholic orphanage, before moving to the United States in 1953. She attended Villanova University, and went on to become an office manager for an Optometrist for twenty years in Keyport, New Jersey. She was very active, staying an avid walker for many years, while also volunteering at her church and local hospitals. Mary had a keen eye for crafts and interior decorating, always finding a way to bring beauty and her inner light into everything that she touched.
Mary was an extremely kind and genuine woman. She maintained a strong Catholic faith, with an enormous capacity for love, compassion and patience. For her, it was others before herself, always. Even through all of the trials that she faced in her life, she never wavered in her beliefs or strength of character, instead spreading love and happiness to all that she touched. Mary will be missed very deeply by all those that knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Maurice Fitzgerald and wife Linda of Allen, Texas and Richard Fitzgerald and wife Kristen of Brooksville, Florida; brother, Joseph Kelly and wife Anne of Middlesex, England; and nephew, Robert Kelly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Kelly and Elizabeth Cahill and sister, Margaret Kelly.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
