Mary Ellen Wiggins, a beloved member of the McKinney community, passed away on December 4, 2023, at the age of 91. Born on June 13, 1932, to Luther Clyde and Agnes Helen (Kirkum) Maxwell, Mary Ellen lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a profound commitment to the well-being of others.
She pursued her passion for helping others by dedicating her life to the field of healthcare. As a registered nurse, she touched the lives of countless individuals, providing comfort, care, and healing for many years.
Mary’s spiritual journey was deeply intertwined with her membership at St. James C.M.E. Church, where she found solace, community, and a sense of purpose. As a faithful member, she actively participated in the church's ministries and events, leaving an indelible mark on the congregation through her kindness and dedication.
Mary is survived by her loving sons, John Wiggins and wife, Frankie of Elmo, Texas and Robert Wiggins of McKinney, Texas; one brother Bertraud Maxwell of Waxahachie, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Maxwell Chenault of McKinney, Texas; a host of grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jessie Wiggins; and son, Nathaniel Wiggins.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
