Mary Elizabeth Bonczar of Lucas, Texas, formerly a long time resident of Massena, New York, passed away July 12, 2018, at the age of 86. She was born November 3, 1931, to Patrick McGrath and Lillian (Stiles) McGrath in Massena, New York. Mary married Francis John Bonczar on March 31, 1951 in Norwood, New York. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Mary was an avid reader, card player, cat lover and quick to laugh. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, and having her children home for the holidays. Mary was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas and Sacred Heart Church in Massena, New York.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Bonczar and wife Iris of Hickory, North Carolina, James Bonczar and wife, Sarah of Conover, North Carolina and Timothy Bonczar and wife, Cathey of Lucas, Texas; daughters, Linda Fenton and husband, Philip of Massena, New York, Judy Wells and husband, David also of Massena and Salena Bonczar of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Lisa Telischak, Cindy Hair, Stacey Brunet, Kristy McGill, Tamra Reed and Alysia Maynard; and great- grandchildren, Grace and Grant Brunet, Colby McGill, Jacob Maynard, Caleb, Liam and Oliver Reed.
She was preceded in death by infant son, Robert; husband, Francis John Bonczar; father, Patrick McGrath; mother, Lillian (Stiles) McGrath; sisters, Lillian and Harriet and brothers, William, George, Patrick, Charles, John, Richard and Robert.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18th, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 212 Main St, Massena, New York 13662.
