A Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary D Compton Golden, 96 year old Tyler resident, formerly of Bailey, is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. June 26, 2018 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. Brother James Sigler and Wyndell Presley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Terry Gipson, Kevin Compton, Alan Compton, Rob Long, Joe Lowrey and David Lowrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eric Hiese, Kenneth Thornton, Jim Compton, Jim Gipson, David Compton and Jerry Compton. Burial will be in the Hogeye/Celeste Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Mary was born September 22, 1921 in the Savage Community east of Leonard. Her parents were Dillard Deel and Cynthia Ann Darst Whitworth. She graduated from Bailey High School in 1939. She married Robert Ellis “Bud” Compton October 12, 1940 at Bonham. He preceded her in death June 28, 2000. She and her first husband lived most of their life in Terrell before they retired and moved to Leonard. She retired from the Terrell State Hospital after 20 years of service. She later married Billy Gene Golden March 20, 2004 at Leonard. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leonard and she had joyfully attended the Bailey Church of Christ with her husband, Billy G. Golden, for 14 years. She was a strong Christian lady who had lovingly cared for her two husbands. She passed away Friday June 22, 2018 at the Oakbrook Health Care Center at Whitehouse, lovingly surrounded by family and friends.

Mary is survived by her husband of 14 years, Billy G. Golden, of Bailey; her daughter and son-in-law: Lydia and Jim Gipson of Tyler; her son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Beverly Compton of Memphis, TN; her grandchildren: Terry Gipson and wife, Michelle, of Highland, NY, Kerry Long and husband, Rob, of Longview; Kevin Compton and wife Allie of Murfreesboro, TN and Alan Compton of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by numerous Compton nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dillard and Cynthia Whitworth; her first husband, Robert E. “Bud” Compton; her sister: Lottie Carpenter Raper, and a niece and a nephew.
