Mary Louise Brashears

Mary Louise Brashears, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, passed away October 8, 2014.  She was born October 5, 1922 in Nebo, North Carolina, to Samuel Benjamin and Cora Margaret (Wilson) Moore.  She was a 1943 graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, Winchester, Virginia. Mary Lou enjoyed music; she played the bassoon, and served as a music teacher for many years. Mary Lou and Richard lived in Mexico, Missouri between 1965 and 1985. 

She is survived by her son, Richard Clay Brashears, Jr. and wife Phylis of Robbinsdale, Minnesota; daughter, Elizabeth Gray Bennett and husband Gary of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Anna Brashears, Linnea Brashears, Jennifer Bennett, Rosemary Brashears and Ethan Brashears; and sister, Margaret Galloway of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Her husband, Richard Clay Brashears; sister, Gwendolyn Moore and brother, Wilson Moore, precede Mary Lou in death.

The family would like to thank the staff of Stonefield Assisted Living in McKinney, Texas and Amity Hospice for their assistance in caring for Mary Lou.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on October 18, 2014, at Arnold Funeral Home Chapel, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, Missouri 65265.  Interment will follow at South Fork Cemetery in Santa Fe, Missouri.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
