Mary Anne King of McKinney, age 69, passed from this life on December, 11th, 2022. Mary Anne was born on October, 31st, 1953 in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada to Raymond and Mary (Poole) Biers. She grew up in Northern Ontario and cherished the memories of her friends and family. She especially enjoyed the water and regularly participated in swim meets at Commando Lake. Later in life she moved to Toronto where she met her husband, Thomas William King. His love for her was undeniable, and the bond they shared was truly special. After spending some years in Toronto, they settled in Oshawa to raise their family. They spent many lovely years together in Oshawa before they relocated to Huntington Beach, California for Tom’s work. Mary Anne loved her time in California. She adored the sunshine and the ocean breeze and found herself spending a great deal of time outside. Far from her northern roots, she felt very at home in California. A final move for Tom’s work brought her to Texas. She first resided in San Antonio and later moved to McKinney, a suburb of Dallas, after the passing of her husband to be close to her daughter, Cassandra, and her family. Shortly after, her son, Trevor, found his way to McKinney as well. She loved her children deeply and continued to be a part of their daily lives even as adults. Truly nothing brought her more joy than spending time together with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.
Mary Anne was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother (Nana or Nani), and friend. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Raymond Arthur and Mary Patricia Biers; and the love of her life, her husband, Thomas William King. Mary Anne is survived by her children; son, Trevor King and Jessica King; daughter, Cassandra Gresham and husband Michael; sister, Kathleen Biers (Brian Patterson); brother, Daniel Biers (Jane Biers); as well as her precious grandchildren, Sophia King, Charlotte Gresham, Alexander King, Nolan Gresham, Jameson King, MacKenzie King and Atticus King.
In her professional life Mary Anne was a talented editor. Her success was a true reflection of her character as a person. Her work ethic, determination and high level of detail made her essential in any role. When given a task, you could always depend on Mary Anne to see it through. She was fueled by an internal drive to do a good job and did not seek recognition but appreciated heartfelt gratitude. While work was important, her true passion was always family and the people she loved.
She was a deeply private person who kept her circle tight. If you were blessed enough to be loved by Mary Anne, you understood the true meaning of unconditional love. She always put others first and wanted the best for everyone. She would do everything she could to aid in others’ success.
According to Mary Anne’s wishes, she will be laid to rest with her husband in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A service will be held in Canada at a later date.
