Apostle Mary E. Gaston of Lavon, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 70. She was born in Lamb County, Texas, to the parents of Arsola and Mary Ervin. She graduated from G.W. Jackson High School in Corsicana, Texas.

Apostle Mary Gaston founded True Holiness Gospel Church INC in 1980. She served faithfully for 41 years. Apostle Gaston truly loved all of God’s people and demonstrated her love in action. You won’t find many people who came in contact with Apostle Gaston upon whose life she did not leave a lasting impression of God’s love. Her motto was, whether person, place, or thing, leave it/them better than you found it because “We Are The Difference.”

Throughout her tenure as pastor, Apostle Mary Gaston also:

*         Set up and established City Sought Out Ministries in North Dakota.

*         Established “Key to Life” Ministries. Focused on feeding the homeless and providing clothing and other essentials as needed.

*         Traveled abroad to Europe, Japan, Spain, Holland, Paris, France and the Netherlands. Spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.

*         Mentored and supported several pastors and leaders all over the United States.

*         Was promoted from Pastor to Apostle in 2001.

*         Founded United Churches of Believers Commissioned to Empower Diocese, adding churches to our Charter.

*         Received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity in Theology.

*         Served as an Intercessor for Dr. Lena McClain. Supervisor of Women, Texas Greater Southeast First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.

In her home, Apostle Mary Gaston is affectionately known as “Great.”  She was given this name by her granddaughter Mariah at the birth of her daughter, J’Keal.  Apostle Gaston thoroughly enjoyed being a great-grandmother.  Her great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life.  She loved family and enjoyed cooking and spending time with them.

Apostle Mary Gaston was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Gaston, her son Eric Watson, her parents Arsola and Mary Ervin, her siblings Arsola Jr., James, Johnny, Betty, Eula, Christy, and a grandson Jeremiah Watson.

She leaves to cherish her memory six daughters, Tessa Price (James) of Lavon, Texas, Carol Hall of Dallas, Texas, Venus Williams (Tony) of Dallas Texas, Angela Webber (Dan) of Dallas, Texas, Charlotte Chaney (Ken) of Desoto, Texas, Pastor Valecia Carey (Kenneth) of Van Alstyne, Texas, Five Sons, Pastor Barry Samples (Youlanda) of Duncanville Texas, Apostle Bruce and Minister Joseph Yates of Glenburnie, Maryland, Maceo Yates (Gilda) of Lancaster, Texas and Charles Coakley (Yolanda) of Middleburg, Florida. In addition, three sisters, District Missionary Mattie Jones of Houston Texas, Emeritus District Missionary Dora Benard of Amarillo, Texas, Lela Russell of Dallas, Texas, two brothers, Alvin Ervin (Kathy) of Katy Texas, R.C. Ervin of Amarillo, Texas, a brother-in-law Virgil Watson (Vanessa) of Plano Texas, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives, her True Holiness Gospel Church family, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 7550 South Hampton Road, Dallas, Texas 75232.

The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Mary will be interred at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana, Texas.
