Marvin Dwight Stagner, 74, of Prosper, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 after suffering from chronic lung disease for a relatively short period of time. He was the only child of the late Marvin Deloach and Audrey Stagner. Dwight is survived by his devoted wife, Linda of 53 years marriage, their son, David Stagner (Alice) of Wolfe Island, Ontario, and daughter Lisa Besch (Jim) of Prosper TX. Dwight cherished his role as “Pops” to grandchildren, Shawn Stagner, Celia Stagner, Annie Moody, and Sam Besch. Born into a military family in Norfolk, VA on May 21, 1948, Dwight and his family later moved to Pensacola, Florida where he spent his formative and early adult years. He also lived for a number of years in Douglasville, GA before retiring to north Texas in 2007.
Dwight graduated with a degree in Secondary Education from the University of West Florida and a masters degree University of South Alabama. He always showed an interest in various occupations and pursued careers in education, public relations, hotel management, and corporate recruitment. During his teen years he was a popular disc jockey on WNVY and WPFA radio in Pensacola. A highlight of his career was establishing the American Business Training Institute in Moscow, Russia during the 1990s. During that time, he made friendships that lasted for the remainder of his life. After retirement he established the Far North Dallas Transport Service.
Dwight had a lifelong interest in photography, always making pictures of family, friends, nature, and his sweet dog, Mia. He enjoyed traveling, was a master at reciting trivial at any given time and was passionate about watching sci-fi on tv. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was able to see the good in other people, and never complained about life’s circumstances. Dwight was of the Protestant faith and had the unique experience of being baptized at an early age in the waters of Escambia Bay in Pensacola.
The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. A private graveside inurnment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
