Martin S. Blackwood, age 87, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Pensacola, Florida, passed away March 11, 2008. He was born February 23, 1921 in Clay Center, Kansas to Thomas Arthur and Emma Jane (Woodside) Blackwood. On April 3, 1948 he married Mary Harris in Topeka, Kansas. Martin proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Navy he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Carrier Inspector and Accident Investigator. He was a member The Oaks Baptist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Mary Blackwood of McKinney, Texas; children, Scott Blackwood and wife, Phyllis of Louisville, Kentucky and Janet Schreiner and husband, Rick of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Christy Stonis, Paul Blackwood, Matthew Schreiner, Amy and Marcus; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan and Rachael Stonis; brothers, Wayne Blackwood of Wichita Falls, Texas and Russell Blackwood, Topeka, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Emma Blackwood; brothers, Delmar and Ray Blackwood and sister, Mildred Burson. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
