Mrs. Martha Jo Martin, age 84, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on September 16, 2026, at her home in Nevada, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 18, 1941, to Ellis and Hazel (Oliver) Whitney.
Martha was a woman of deep faith who loved God and trusted Him throughout her life. She was the heart of her family, loving fiercely and always putting those she cherished first. There was nothing she treasured more than time spent with her family and having them together.
Martha is survived by her sons, David Martin and his wife, Margaret, and Travis Martin and his wife, Lisa; her grandchildren, Danny Martin and his wife, Trudy, Casey McCutchen and her husband, Daniel, Billy Colt Martin, Trevor Martin and his wife, Jessica, and Amber Massey and her husband, Aaron; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Sue Young and Loretta Cracknell; and her brother, Jerry Whitney.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnnie Martin; her sister, Mary Everett; and her brother, James Whitney.
Visitation: Friday, September 18, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Hurst’s Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Josephine Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Thompson Cemetery.
