Mark Thomas Medina, aged 48, of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born to Thomas and Luz (Tayag) Medina in Long Beach, California on July 25, 1978.
On October 12, 2007, Mark married the love of his life, Avigail (DeLeon) Medina in a beautiful ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Together, they built a loving family and were blessed with their daughter, Samantha, and beloved stepson to Mark, Ivan DeLeon.
Mark graduated high school at ACE Baptist School in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines, and then continued his academic journey at San Francisco State University, where he graduated in 2006 with his Bachelor’s Degree.
Mark had a passion for horticulture with a focus on the arum family of plants. He was a member of the DFW Plant Peeps. He loved tending to his plants and had quite the green thumb. He was also a car enthusiast that stemmed from Japanese car culture he learned growing up at Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan. Mark was also a big sports fan, never missing a Lakers, San Francisco Giants, or 49ers game.
Above all, Mark cherished his family, and he loved spending his time with them watching movies, playing competitive games of mahjong, and trying out new and exciting restaurants. You could always find him supporting Avi and Samantha at their musical performances and cheering from the sidelines as Avi ran marathons. His greatest joy was simply being present with the people he loved. He was a devoted husband, a doting father, a cherished son and brother, and friend to many who will truly miss his light, his sharp wit, laughter, and love.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of almost 22 years, Avigail Medina; children Samantha Medina, and Ivan DeLeon of Los Angeles; brothers: Hamlet and Andrew Medina and their families, both of Sacramento, CA; his parents, Thomas and Luz Medina, of San Fernando, Philippines, and many cousins, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends.
