Mark Leonard Herman, 82, passed away on February 21, 2026.

Mark was born on February 11, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York to Abraham Herman and Mildred Klapholz. Raised with strong values of family, service, and community, Mark carried those principles throughout his life.

After graduating from high school, Mark proudly served in the United States National Guard, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to serving others. On November 25, 1965, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Tier) Herman, in Long Island. Their marriage was a lasting testament to devotion, partnership, and love, spanning more than six decades.

Mark was a dedicated member of the Knights of Pythias, where he valued fellowship and service. He also volunteered with the Collin County Sheriff's Office, giving generously of his time and energy to support his community.

Known for his warmth and quick wit, Mark loved to tell a good story. Whether gathered around the dinner table or visiting with friends, he had a gift for bringing people together with laughter and memorable tales. His storytelling, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Herman of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Melanie Odstrcil and husband, Randall of Lewisville, Texas; son, Ron Herman and wife, Jennifer of Frisco, Texas; grandson, Brett Herman and wife, Jules of Frisco, Texas; grandson, Joshua Herman of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Colton Herman and wife, Ciara of Anna, Texas; granddaughter, Aubrey Kennedy and husband, Luke of Celina, Texas; great grandchildren, Luciano, Raelynn, Leo, and Ryker; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Mildred Herman and his brothers Morton Herman and Barry Herman.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2026, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
