Marjorie Ann Stephenson

July 6, 1941 - April 28, 2018

Marjorie Ann Stephenson of Richardson, Texas passed away April 28, 2018, at the age of 76.  She was born July 6, 1941, to Walton B. and Roma Gooch in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Margie married Charles Melvin Stephenson on July 31, 1959, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was passionate in her love of family.  Her children and grandchildren treasured her joyful heart and constant smile.  There was never a bad day in the presence of “GranMom.” Marjorie had many interests and was a friend to all.  Her desire to encourage people was evident in her avid note and card writing.  Marjorie’s love and concern for people was genuine.  She was tireless in helping people, be it preparing food or cleaning homes for people in need, or climbing on a ladder to paint theater sets for the JJ Pearce drama department.  Her servant attitude was recognized in 2014, as Margie was awarded a Lifetime PTA membership at Canyon Creek Elementary School. She enjoyed sporting events as she spent countless hours, rain or shine, rooting on her children and grandchildren.  Marjorie attended many Maverick and Ranger games, and was a constant help to the Dallas Football Officials Association (DFOA).  Her husband, Charles, was associated with football officiating for over 50 years and served as Secretary of the DFOA.  Marjorie’s support for Charles and the numerous officials was seen in her answering the phones, helping to assign officials, dealing with crisis situations due to thunderstorms, and simply making everyone feel welcome.  In 2005, Margie was awarded the Texas Association of Sports Officials Buchanan Service Award, becoming only the third recipient in the history of the award. Above all else, it was never about her.  It was always about others.  And it was always about her deep and abiding love for the Lord.  Her life of selflessness and servanthood was evident to all, and was a source of great encouragement.  While the loss of her presence on earth is a source of sadness, her family is overjoyed in knowing that GranMom is laughing and smiling in the loving arms of her beloved Jesus.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Stephenson of Richardson, Texas; sons, Lewis Stephenson and wife Janice of Mansfield, Texas, Kenneth Stephenson and wife Jana of Lubbock, Texas, Gary Stephenson and wife April of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters, Rene Lynn of McKinney, Texas, and Kelly Stephenson-Tovar and husband Michael of Richardson, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great –grandchildren; and many loving family members and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, and great-granddaughter, Charlee Rose Stephenson (2016).

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Waterview Church of Christ, 1409 North Waterview Drive, Richardson, Texas 75080.  A private internment will take place at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.

Kevin C, September 28, 2018 Mr. Stephenson, I never met your wife but it seems as if she was an angel. I know she will be missed by many. May your family find comfort in Christ. Kenneth E. Cook, August 18, 2018 Margie was such a wonderful and loving person.  We were blessed to be her neighbors and will miss her tremendously.  We know that she is looking down on us right now.  Thank you is not enough for all the kind words and prayers that she shared with us and our familia.  She will be missed by all.
Sylvia and Domingo Sanchez, May 7, 2018 Dear Charles and Family, I am so sorry that dear Margie is no longer with you. I only learned about her passing tonight. I would like to have been with you today and remind you personally of the love our family has had for your family through the years. You have all been in my prayers tonight and I pray that our Father will comfort you. I know the empty feeling that comes with this loss. But I also know that somehow our faith rejoices in the knowledge that our loved ones, Margie and Glenda, are safe in Heaven. I don't know how that works, but I know that it is a comforting reality. May God bless you all and comfort you as only He can.
Joe Watson, May 6, 2018 Our family is in AR this weekend at Micayla's Graduation, but we're sending love & prayers during this difficult time. Lewis, you have a special place in this Mother's heart. Love you all. Belinda, Rob Mob & Michelle Mobley BELINDA VAN DENBURG, May 4, 2018 Praying for the family of this dear sister in Christ.  She was truly loved.
Linda Little, May 4, 2018 In the Book of Proberbs, King Lemuel and his mother goes in search for a perfect wife and Charles Stephenson found one. I have known Marjorie for over 40 years and she has been the same individual that I first met. She was a devoted wife; a loving mother and a loyal friend. In the DFOA she was "The Secretary to the Secretary." and thought of us all as her family. Two of my grandsons, Chase and Blake, lived down the street from her and she was always doing something for them; even discipling when necessary. Like Martha in the Bible, she was always taking care of someone or doing something without ever calling attention to herself. She taught us how to live with courage and faith; to face death with grace and dignity and to welcome eternal life with joy and hope. Marjorie will not be missed because she will live in our hearts and minds forever and as i drive my bus in the hills of Oklahoma today, I am very grateful to God that I was blessed and influenced by this woman of faith and love. The Stephenson Family has great reason to celebrate her life and to thank God for her love; but most of all the Stephenson Family should be thanked for sharing their Marorjie with us. I will see you again my friend in that land beyond the sunset. Bro. Dan
Dan Carroll, May 4, 2018 Charles, I am praying for you, your sons and daughters. carl Davis, May 4, 2018 Thinking of you.  Prayers to all.  Margie was such a giving kind person.  She will be missed dearly.
Coach Glenda Holmes, May 4, 2018 This lady was a light to all who ever met her and visited with her.  She made everyone feel so special.  When she spoke to you it was like there was nothing else she would rather be doing.  She is a loss to us but such a gift in heaven.  I will miss her.
Heather Jones, May 3, 2018 To the entire Stephenson family.  There are no words to express what a great person Margie was.  She would always greet you with a smile on her face and a warm hug.  You can't put a price on what she was worth to the Dallas Football Officials Association.  She will be a great servant in Heaven as she was here on earth.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of sorrow.
Rita & Roy Kimberlin, May 3, 2018 To Your Sweet Family - We grieve with you at the loss of Sweet Margie on this Earth but know that her touch remains.  She brought joy, happiness, inspiration, smiles, love, and friendship to all who even walked past her shadow.  She lived her life following Christ not because she should, but because for Margie, what other way was there to live?  She was born a pearl already perfect in every way.  May the joy of her life lived be the joy she continues to inspire in all of us.
Alisa Blacketer Law, May 3, 2018 There are simply no words to say how much my mom and dad (Blacketer) loved Marjorie.  Everything in her story above is SOOOO true of her.  We were going to meet for lunch soon, but that will be in Heaven now.  What a wonderful, precious soul.  To her family: I can’t imagine your loss of such a vibrant, loving, glorious person.  Thank you for sharing her with us all.
Gail Blacketer Wallace, May 2, 2018 I have loved seeing Margie at different JJ Pearce events over the past year.  It took me back to my own days at North and Pearce, when Margie was there as a mom.  My prayers go out to the entire Stephenson family!  I know your loss is deep.  I will miss Margie!  My love to you all.
